Maya’s garden voyage

Illustrated sample, not a real place or a scale map. Stage the 5 landmarks along your own checked route.

Follow the numbers with your grown-up. Walk together and collect only clue cards. Your treasure waits at spot 5.

Clue cards

Sample explorer: Maya. Read aloud and substitute your child’s name. Ask a grown-up to cut along the card borders.

Sample · Clue 1

Maya, your voyage starts here. Find the chair where we sit outside.

Sample · Clue 2

Maya, find the empty watering can. Its spout looks like a little ship’s nose.

Sample · Clue 3

Maya, sail to the empty flowerpot. Your next message waits beside it.

Sample · Clue 4

Maya, find the blanket on the grass. It is your island for a moment.

Sample · Clue 5

Maya, your treasure box waits beside our grown-up. Walk over to claim your treasure.

For the grown-up

Stage a stable chair, empty plastic watering can, empty lightweight flowerpot, blanket and treasure box. Use a short, checked route.

  1. Clue 1: Hand this card to your explorer.
  2. Clue 2: Put this card on the chair seat.
  3. Clue 3: Put this card beside the empty watering can.
  4. Clue 4: Put this card beside the empty flowerpot.
  5. Clue 5: Put this card on the blanket. Keep the treasure box beside the supervising adult.

Supervise throughout. Avoid roads, water, tools, chemicals, slippery surfaces and thorny plants. Keep cards reachable: no climbing, digging or lifting objects.

Do not taste plants or berries. Wash hands afterwards. Adjust for allergies, mobility and weather; this sample cannot assess your garden.
